Growing up in New York City, I never planned to leave. Always a museum junkie and an avid reader there was little time to focus on creativity while raising a family and working in the advertising industry. After early retirement, while living in San Francisco, I returned to painting and started writing a historical novel about the female line of my family: The Last Daughter of Elizabeth Light.

I studied at the Art Students League in New York, graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in painting, and attended Pratt Institute’s Masters program for painting. My work is in many private collections across the United States and as far away from New York as Sydney, Australia (where my grandmother was born).

Now I live on the North Shore of Massachusetts where I paint and write every day. Twelve of my short stories have appeared in several literary journals. In May a linked short story collection was published The Claudia Stores: Tales of New York City
